A Little Detour

Angie’s brother, Steve, is working on a dangerous criminal case. Worried for his sister’s safety, he squirrels her away with his best friend, James, who lives halfway across the country. Angie’s meeting with this solitary guy couldn’t be more awkward. He’s shy and withdrawn, and seems to have shunned nearly all his friends and family.

James didn’t want his life disrupted by his best friend’s little sister. But Steve is like a brother, so James agreed to let Angie crash with him for a time. It’s just that Angie is so . . . everything. Talkative. Curious. Helpful. Sweet. Funny. Beautiful. She rocks every element of James’ quiet life. 

As her stay drags on, the awkwardness between Angie and James eases, and in its wake, a deeper connection grows. But there’s one gigantic elephant in the room. Angie’s brother. Steve made it clear from the start–James isn’t good enough for Angie. And nothing would ever change his mind.
