The Little (Romance) Detour

Angie’s brother Steve is a police officer and is currently working a dangerous criminal case. Worried for his sister’s safety, Steve squirrels her away with his best friend, James, who lives halfway across the country. Angie’s meeting with this solitary guy couldn’t be more awkward. She finds James to be shy and withdrawn, and he’s shunned nearly all his friends and family.

James didn’t want his life disrupted by his best friend’s little sister. But Steve is like a brother, so James agreed to let Angie crash with him for a time. It’s just that Angie is so . . . everything. Talkative. Curious. Helpful. Sweet. Funny. Beautiful. She rocks every element of James’ quiet life. 

As Angie’s stay in rural Missouri drags on, the awkwardness with James eases, and in its wake, a deeper connection grows. But there’s one gigantic elephant in the room. Angie’s brother. Steve had made it clear from the start–James isn’t good enough for Angie. And nothing would ever change his mind.
